I put a spin on an idea that I heard the other day here, for my kiddos...and although it's my worst nightmare, since I despise bananas, i'm fairly certain it will be most peoples idea of heaven...so I had to share.
It is an awesome way to make a dessert that tastes {apparently} like an ah-may-zing choco- banana soft serve ice-cream but that is totally almost perfectly good for you! Specially for those of you with kiddos that are hard to sneak the good stuff to...We all have those days. :)
If i've got your attention then follow meeeee.......
(Unfortunately it's not instant gratification the first time due to freezing time issues, but at least you'll know for next time, to plan ahead!)
1. Slice a banana or 3 and lay out on freezer/parchment paper {I lay them out on a cutting board, not bag them, so they don't get stuck together at this stage} and place them in the freezer. I keep a few layers in my freezer so this treat is always available.
2. When frozen, take the slices and dump into a blender. Mine is a kinda crappy cheapy one, and it still works for this, so don't be sadly thinking..."oh, but my blender is rubbish", like I did, and just try anyways! :)

3.Now comes the slight naughty part...take a spoonful of NUTELLA
and {shamelessy} dollop it on top! Eeeeeep!
4. Add a splash of milk. Just a splash. You can continue to add a little more as needed once you start blendning.


5. Hit GO!! If you have a crappy blender like mine you need patience {and a spoon}. I just keep pulsing and give it a good shake around and stir to get it all moving.
Blend until completely smooth.

6. Now normally I would stick it back in the freezer for 15 mins or so just to harden up a little, but for the sake of slipping in a quick tutorial while I made this for the kiddos,
I just snapped pics while it was pre-freezer, so yours will be a little more firm looking. But I guess if you like your ice-cream more "soft-servey", you will probs like it this way!

If you're not counting calories: Drop on some sprinkles, choc chips or syrup to make this treat extra exciting!
If you are counting calories: In place of the nutella, add a teaspoon of honey to sweeten and sprinkle with some crushed nuts or granola!
All you people bananas for bananas, eat your heart out! :)

ReplyDeleteWell, to be honest, for me, since I hate bananas, no banana at all, just nutella and milk....so a nutella shake. That sounds much better actually. :)
